School Council

At Drighlington Primary School, our School Council plays a really important role in school life. We believe it's essential to teach children about democracy, responsibility and having a voice, so every year we run a full campaign and election process where children can put themselves forward and be voted in by their classmates. It’s always a proud moment when the new councillors are announced.

Our School Council members take their role very seriously. They meet with Mrs Sowden every two weeks to share ideas, discuss school matters, make decisions and plan fundraising activities. They also work closely with our PTA to raise money and help decide how school funds are spent. Being part of the School Council is a brilliant way for children to make a real difference—and they never fail to rise to the challenge.
