Packed lunches and snacks

21 December 2020 (by admin)

May we remind everyone that we are a nut-free school. Please check all packed lunch and snack contents before sending them – we have at least one child in school who will most likely be hospitalised if they encounter nuts.

Some of you may remember that we used to run a School Council Tuck Shop. We stopped doing this long before Covid because it was difficult to find healthy snacks to sell. We felt we could not manage fresh fruit as it is perishable, and many of the snacks had high sugar content.

We are a healthy school and need to encourage children to eat sensibly. For the New Year resolution, we ask that families do not send cakes, sweets or chocolate in their pack lunch or as snacks.  Here is a link to Change4life which provides healthy packed lunch ideas. Let’s all rise to the challenge and teach our children to eat more healthily.

On saying that, of course we know that everyone will have lots of treats over the next few days – Christmas wouldn’t be the same without mince pies, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, etc!

Merry Christmas.
