School Council Pet Project

Our School Council worked laboriously to complete this target, which was their own idea. They met with a Health and Safety representative from Leeds City Council, they audited all children's views and they assessed the cost of keeping a range of pets in school.
The biggest problem they overcame was risk assessing against allergies and phobias. This became too difficult for them to overcome. As a result they decided to have a large aquarium for all children to share. This has been installed, although we have to wait a few days before the fish can be put into the tank due to chemicals in tap water needing to be filtered. The children were determined to fund this themselves.
We would like to thank everyone who supported them last week on our Dress Down day. The children raised £391.69 and this will pay for the upkeep of the aquarium for one year.
